Understand generative AI
Explore how an AI assistant responds to instructions and why a fluent answer may still be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for the task.
AI TRAINING / GENERATIVE AI FOUNDATIONS
Generative AI workshops for adult learners who want a clear starting point, practical examples and time to ask questions, try an instruction and improve the result.
A CLEAR STARTING POINT
It is easy to see an impressive AI demonstration and still feel unsure how to begin. A foundations workshop makes each decision visible: what the task is, what context is needed, how to phrase an instruction and what to check afterwards.
The emphasis is practical AI literacy for workplace and creative tasks. Participants do not need to start with programming. The starting level, examples and tool access should be agreed before the session.
WORKSHOP FOCUS
Explore how an AI assistant responds to instructions and why a fluent answer may still be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for the task.
Describe a goal, audience, context and output format. Compare a vague request with a more complete brief, then refine it through follow-up questions.
Check the output against the original purpose and available evidence. Identify assumptions, edit the language and decide what still needs human input.
SAMPLE LEARNING SEQUENCE
A fictional internal announcement can become a complete learning exercise. First, participants identify the audience and the facts that must remain unchanged. They then draft an instruction and compare the response with the brief.
Next, they ask for a different tone or format without changing the facts. Finally, they edit the response and describe the checks they used. This makes prompting, iteration and judgement part of the same activity.
Examples can be discussed around your team’s roles. The exact exercise depends on participants’ experience and the tools approved for the session.
PLAN THE NEXT STEP
Proposed learning outcomes include explaining a suitable use for generative AI, writing a structured prompt, improving an output and recognising when information needs checking.
After a foundations session, teams can focus on workplace productivity or creative content. A small number of well-practised tasks can provide a clearer next step than introducing many tools at once.
